Optimism after strong season
Two important surveys into the health of the Island's King and Queen scallop fisheries have just been completed and early indications are encouraging.
The surveys were carried out independently by the local industry and Bangor University, and are currently being analysed.
Chairman of the Manx Fish Producers Association, Dr David Beard, says the industry is looking forward with optimism after a strong King scallop season:
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Scallop Management Board has taken place to discuss the harvest strategy for the Queen scallop season, which is due to start on 1 July.
