A Ramsey man who stabbed his brother has been spared jail.
Lauerinn Arran Kaighin, of Albion Terrace, was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse after pleading guilty to wounding with intent.
The case was described as a 'tremendously sad' and 'tragic turn of events' by the 26-year-old's advocate.
Police were called to the family home at 6am on 27 August last year after reports that a man had been stabbed.
Officers found Kaighin in the back garden 'visibly shaking'.
The court heard he has mental health issues and that his brother had sought to get the charges against him dropped.
Sentencing Kaighin to one year and nine months in prison, suspended for two years, Deemster Graeme Cook described a letter from his brother as 'moving' and said the case was 'unusual'.
A two-year suspended sentence supervision order has also been implemented.
