A 33 year-old man who shouted threats and abuse at another man has been given a four month prison sentence, suspended for two years, by High Bailiff Michael Moyle.
Ian Ronald Goldsmith, of Castle Drive in Douglas, admitted using threatening, insulting or abusive words or behaviour in the hearing of Sebastien Charles Turner.
He also admitted possessing cannabis resin.
Inspector Andrew Turner, prosecuting, said police went to the defendant's flat at 7.10pm on April 2, following a 999 call from a person who said he had been shouting from an upstairs window in the building and making threats.
Goldsmith only opened his door to police after being threatened with a forced entry.
He swore and was abusive to officers, and when he was searched at police headquarters officers found 1.4 grammes of cannabis resin in a trouser pocket.
His advocate said Goldsmith was "wound up" after an argument with the other man, who he claimed had almost run him over as he was walking on the pavement towards his home.
