FoI suggests section of MER could be reduced
The infrastructure minister insists a review into the Island's heritage railways 'certainly isn't explosive'.
Consultancy firm SYSTRA has been assessing the economic value of the railways, and government says its report, which was due in September, is to be published any day now.
Meanwhile, an email exchange between a member of the DOI and SYSTRA, published in response to a recent FOI request, suggests a section of the Manx Electric Railway between Laxey and Ramsey could be considered for closure or reduction.
In Tynwald, Minister Tim Crookall was asked why the report had been held onto for so long:

Young people's bereavement drop in service coming to an end
Pub's inclusive toilet signs vandalised
