First postponement in 67 years
A ceremony to mark the birthday of the Island's National Poet won't take place today - for the first time in 67 years.
T.E Brown was born on May 5th 1830 and became famous for his Manx dialect poetry, recording contemporary life on the Island, despite spending much of his life teaching in Bristol.
A bronze memorial plaque was placed in Glen Falcon, Broadway, Douglas, by the T E Brown Memorial Committee in 1952 and every year since then the World Manx Society - whose foundation was inspired by Brown - has laid a garland of gorse on the plaque on 5th May.
However, this year, due to prior commitments, the ceremony will take place on the 6th of May, at 2.30pm.
