Health minister delighted rollout underway
It's Covid-19 vaccine rollout day on the Isle of Man.
The first of the Pfizer jabs will be administered in the next few hours.
Health Minister David Ashford has defended the decision to wait to the New Year to begin the programme saying there was a great deal of work behind the scenes to get right first.
The Island has received six trays of the vaccine, enough for over 2,800 to receive the double dose required over the next three weeks.
Speaking on Manx Radio, Mr Ashford confirmed the first orders for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine have been placed but a delivery date hasn't been given.
He says the response to the first letters sent to Island residents before Christmas to come forward to receive the inoculation has been very positive:-
