Unsuccessful MHK claims it shows a lack of respect
An unsuccessful MHK candidate has labelled attempts by 'failed politicians' to get into the Legislative Council as 'fundamentally indecent'.
Four MLC spots will be up for grabs at the end of February when the current term of office comes to an end – the election for their successors will be held on 14 March.
Nominations are open and serving MHKs must put forward the names of those who wish to stand; in the past some failed keys candidates have tried LegCo instead.
But Michael Josem, who’s bid to become a politician twice, believes attempting to get into public office through the ‘back-door’ shows a lack of respect to the electorate.
