Event open to the public - organised by UCIoM
An exploration of why internees who died on the Island during the two World Wars were commemorated in different ways will take place tonight (17 May).
From 6pm in the Lecture Theatre at Elmwood House in Douglas, Hamish Killip will deliver a talk titled 'Death in Detention'.
He'll be discussing cases like the uneven treatment of the dead after a wartime crash of an RAF aircraft on Snaefell.
Open to the public, the event's been organised by University College Isle of Man as part of it's 'History and Heritage' series.
UCM's Dr Catriona Mackie says Mr Killip's interest in the subject stems from his military background:
Government 'neglecting' heritage assets across the Island
Motiv8: 'We will never reach all the children on the Isle of Man'
House of Keys question paper dominated by one MHK
Onchan Commissioners to undertake 'accessibility' review of park equipment
Efforts to push more services online causing frustration in community
