Departure from EU single market could have 'serious consequences'
Losing access to the European Union's single market could have serious consequences for the Island's fishing industry.
That's according to the Chief Executive of the Manx Fish Producers Organisation, David Beard.
He says the Island exports between 55% and 90% of its produce to Europe each month, and has benefited from the high demand for Manx shellfish.
If Brexit results in the UK leaving the single market, tariffs may be placed on Island fish exports.
Mr Beard says this could create a raft of extra costs for the local industry:
