Thirty-seven posts in primaries and secondaries
There are currently 37 vacant teaching posts in Island primary and secondary schools.
The figure was revealed by Education and Children Minister Graham Cregeen, in a House of Keys question for written answer from Garff MHK Daphne Caine.
There are 13 vacancies in primaries, equivalent to 7.44 full-time employees (FTE).
Of that, 4.2 FTE are being covered by supply teachers.
In secondary schools, the 24 vacant posts equate to 19.5 FTE.
In addition, Mr Cregeen says there are effectively 12 teachers not teaching their specialist subject because they are doing their second subject instead, which they are also qualified to do.
