Nine months after being convicted of driving unroadworthy car
A court's heard a teenage mechanic was caught riding an unroadworthy motorbike just nine months after being convicted of driving an unroadworthy car.
Eighteen-year-old Charles Ashley Carter, of Thornhill Close in Port Erin, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse for sentencing.
He'd previously pleaded guilty to having a motorcycle in a dangerous condition at Castle Rushen.
Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the court, on 14 December last year, police on patrol spotted Carter on his black Honda 125.
They followed Carter before pulling him over at Rushen Abbey and taking the bike to vehicle examiners based in Tromode.
The hearing was told experts found faults in the suspension, back tyre, bodywork and lights – and that last year Carter had been fined for driving an unsafe BMW.
Magistrates told Carter they were disappointed he'd reoffended and fined him £300.
He was also ordered to pay £50 towards prosecution costs- magistrates also put three points on his driving licence.
