People who use the Eastern District Civic Amenity Site at Middle River, near Pulrose power station, are again being told they won't have to pay an additional charge but this time the assurance is from the present operators.
Tel's Limited threatened to impose a charge from Thursday of this week, after being told it no longer had a valid contract, and wouldn't be paid for running the service.
The company now says it will postpone such action, at least for the time being, because it doesn't want to disadvantage, or cause financial hardship to, any of its customers.
Tel's insists it has a continuing contract, with the local authorities in Douglas, Onchan and Braddan, and that the notice to quit they issued six months ago isn't valid.
The Department of Local Government and the Environment has already said any such charge would be illegal, and is insisting Douglas Corporation will be taking over the facility in the next few days.
DoLGE also says there's no question of a charge being imposed, because users already pay for the service through their rates.
