Ambulance cover in the south to be maintained following station fire

Ambulance cover in the south of the Island will continue to be maintained in the coming days and weeks despite a large fire at Castletown and Malew Fire and Ambulance station.

That's the message from Manx Care which says it has established a temporary ambulance station at Castletown Coastguard Station.

The healthcare body says this will 'ensure the continued delivery of emergency medical services' whilst the fire and ambulance station is out of action.

The Isle of Man Ambulance Service has invoked its 'Business Continuity Plan' and is thanking all emergency responders for their assistance during the incident.

Separately, it's been confirmed that the cause of the fire 'remains under investigation'.
