Tesco's plans to create more than 100 jobs on the Island have been welcomed by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
Around sixty jobs were lost when the takeover of Shoprite was confirmed earlier this year, so the net gain overall is expected to be nearer 40.
There are still worries about how the change will affect Manx suppliers.
Minister Clare Barber says government has created a funding scheme to ensure that suppliers of products to Tesco have the required SALSA accreditation to enable their products to be stocked:
