Over 200 new jobs could be created by Tesco.
Expansion plans for the Douglas store include extra sales space and facilities in the form of a new mezzanine floor, customer cafe and a decked car park providing room for 566 vehicles.
The planning application, which has been submitted to Douglas Borough Council, also features a new glazed atrium entrance linked to the new car park at ground and first floor level.
Tesco Corporate Affairs Manager Doug Wilson says the additional space will provide up to 250 new jobs and an improved main food shopping facility to serve the local community.
