Firm claims Chinese hackers biding time
Businesses on the Isle of Man could be vulnerable to cyber attacks by government-sponsored hacking groups, according to a new report.
Accountants at 'big four' firm PwC uncovered the global campaign of a hacking group known as APT10, believed to be supported by the Chinese government.
The so-called 'hacktivists' are said to target areas where businesses utilise outsourced IT service providers - like on the Island - to steal information and conduct espionage.
Steven Craven, a senior manager at PwC's Manx branch, claims it's a matter of 'when, not if' a major cyber attack will happen here.
He says looking at the attackers' perspective, and having contingency plans, may help minimise the threat.
