Local Authority Elections taking place in April
A Garff commissioner says people thinking of joining a local authority will need to develop a 'thick skin' and face criticism about decisions which have been made.
Melanie Christian believes finding a balance between working full time and family commitments is also important.
Local Authority Elections are being held in April across the Island and are an opportunity for people to have their say about what happens in their community.
Mrs Christian says despite the perceived negatives more people should put themselves forward for the role.
