Think about a dog’s needs before buying a puppy – so says the Manx Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
It come after new research in the UK showed it costs an average of £13,000 to own a dog over the course of its lifetime.
The figure was reached by adding up costs such as food and vet bills, and Margaret Mansfield from the MSPCA says she’s not surprised by it.
However, she says many people don’t think of the cost before taking on a pet:
