Election candidate wants a clearer process
A candidate who missed out on hundreds of votes during the 2016 Manx General Election after ballot boxes weren't counted, says reform of our democracy is long overdue.
Louise Whitelegg stood for Ayre and Michael, where during the count 206 votes went 'missing' and counters were given a 'pizza break'.
She then gave evidence to the Committee on the Organisation and Operation of the General Election, detailing her 'horrifying' election experience.
The government has recently launched a public consultation on electoral reform, which considers changes to methods of voting and the roles of returning officers.
Louise is encouraging people to submit their views and says the Manx public shouldn't be afraid of change:
