The famous Castle Rushen clock has been brought to a standstill.
The ancient timepiece, which looks over the market square in Castletown, has been stopped by Manx National Heritage.
It has been discovered there is wear in the mechanism which requires major restoration and repair.
MNH spokesman Chris Weeks says the clock must be stopped, dismantled, repaired and cleaned to ensure it continues to run in future centuries.
The conservation will start when the Castle closes on November 4, at the end of season.
