A fire blanket was used to smother the appliance
A toaster, that had been placed on the hob and on the wrong ring, is the cause of a flat fire in Douglas.
Last night firefighters were dispatched to Tynwald Street after the smoke alarm alerted the owner to the potential danger - who then used a fire blanket to smother the toaster.
Crews safely removed the device and cleared the flat of smoke.
