Chief secretary of the Isle of Man Government Mary Williams is to retire at the end of the year.
Mrs Williams has been in the post since November 2002, having previously served as chief financial officer, chief executive officer of the Department of Home Affairs and chief internal auditor.
By the time she leaves, on December 31, she will have completed more than 40 years service with the Isle of Man Government.
Advertising for her successor is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
