Holiday units demolition order stands
Planning chiefs in the Island say firm action against the owners of newly-built tourism accomodation over a planning breach is needed to ensure confidence in the system.
Vincent and Eileen Marlow were ordered to demolish seven holiday units created in a major barn conversion in Santon, because they did not comply with planning laws.
The couple were given permisison to build four units, but instead created seven.
An attempt to obtain retrospective permission failed - and two years after an order to destroy the properties was ignored, the couple were taken to court and fined.
Director of Planning and Building Control Jennifer Chance says such action is taken as a last resort:
