Popular Douglas venue ceases trading
A popular Douglas bar and restaurant has closed down because of 'tough times' in the hospitality industry.
Bar George has ceased trading after eight years under the current ownership.
Taking to social media to make the announcement, Damian Hawley says it's been an 'honour and a privilege' to own and run the wine bar and restaurant.
However, he says the difficulties since the Covid-19 pandemic followed by huge operational increases in energy and supplies has left no alternative but to make this 'tough decision'.
Bar George's last day of operating was Saturday (29 March).
But Damian says there will be news in the coming weeks about the plans the new owners have for the space.
