Council again defends sale
Douglas Council has defended the selling off of several horse tram carriages, ahead of an auction on Saturday.
Six vintage pieces of former rolling stock, in varying degrees of disrepair, will go under the hammer at Murray's Auctioneers from 11am.
One of them is 120 years old.
The sale was arranged in order to generate revenue for the Department of Infrastructure - which now runs the horse tram service - and to clear space in the tram sheds on Strathallan Crescent.
They're expected to fetch up to £1,000 each - Council Leader David Christian says it's the right move:
