Those who aren't on the Manx government's radar for direct support in the current financial climate, should ask for help if they need it.
The treasury minister has been reflecting on the challenges for the so-called squeezed middle.
Dr Alex Allinson says the priority must always be to help the most vulnerable but accepts some people who fall just outside the benefits threshold will be struggling.
He says work is ongoing to find ways to make sure people don't get left behind:
