Decision follows Ranson tribunal report
Treasury Minister David Ashford has resigned.
Government has announced that the Douglas North MHK is leaving his ministerial position with immediate effect.
It follows the fall-out from the results of former medical director Dr Rosalind Ranson's employment tribunal, which found she was unfairly dismissed whilst Mr Ashford was in post as Minister of Health.
He'd previously denied any involvement in that decision, but some MHKs had called for Mr Ashford to step down - something he told Manx Radio last week he wasn't considering.
His offer of resignation was handed to the chief minister on Monday, and has been accepted this morning.
Mr Ashford will still be one of Douglas North's MHKs and will join Tynwald's other backbenchers.
A further announcement on who will succeed him as treasury minister is expected in due course.
