Pedestrianised area along Douglas quay
A trial to make North Quay in Douglas traffic free in the evenings during the Festival of Motorcycling could lead to long-term change - if it works.
The area has been pedestrianised for the festival fortnight between 6pm and midnight, to encourage locals and visitors to visit the area's cafes, bars and restaurants.
The government initiative aims to test whether banning traffic from a popular area can help boost the night-time economy.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says they'll look closely at public reaction, to see if it's worth repeating or extending the scheme:
