Tributes are being paid to former Douglas Councillor and former Mayoress Helen Callow who passed away yesterday morning (Wed 2nd)
Mrs Callow ran an antique shop on Duke Street in Douglas and her late husband Basil, who had also been in the business, was a former councillor and mayor in 1992/93.
West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas, whose campaign to enter national politics had the support of Mrs Callow, says she was a distinguished and kind lady who would always offer comment and advice, and she had a wonderful presence and smile.
Kate Beecroft of South Douglas said she was a lovely lady whose presence added to this world. She added that Mrs Callow will be sorely missed.
