Mike Trimby described as 'one of most important figures' in grand prix racing
Tributes are being paid to Isle of Man resident, and an icon of MotoGP, Mike Trimby.
His death was announced yesterday (8 September) by Dorna Sports which organises the MotoGP championship.
In a statement the company said it sends its ‘deepest condolences’ to Mike’s wife along with the rest of his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones.
Dorna Sports add: "Mike was one of the most important figures in the history of motorcycle grand prix racing.
“His life, achievements and memory will be celebrated during the remainder of the San Marino Grand Prix as the paddock joins together to honour him."
Mr Trimby moved to the Isle of Man more than 20 years ago making his home in Laxey before relocating to the north of the Island in recent years
