Scientist urges action on problem
A scientist-turned-government advisor says she's 'excited' to start work, after returning from an expedition to one of the world's most polluted stretches of ocean.
Scientist Rowan Henthorn has spent the last month researching the impact of marine plastic in the so-called Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
She has now returned, and is looking to develop 'tangible projects' in an effort to stop further pollution.
Following the launch of government's Plastic Reduction plan, Miss Henthorn will assist in the strategy's roll out, which aims to ban all single-use plastics by 2021.
She used this analogy to put the issue into perspective:
