Twelve vehicles were stopped by the Roads Policing Unit in Santon this morning.
Officers described the defects as 'various', but said one van stopped was sent to be scrapped, such was the poor condition of it.
Some of the more minor faults included headlights which weren't working and damaged wing mirrors.
The police were working in tandem with staff from the Vehicle Testing Unit, and say they will be out and about again, at various spots around the Island, next week.
