The chairman of the Liberal Vannin Party and the former managing director of the Sefton Hotel have confirmed they will stand in the Douglas East by-election.
Chris Robertshaw will contest the seat made vacant following Phil Braidwood's election to the Legislative Council yesterday (Monday).
It will be Mr Robertshaw’s second attempt to become an MHK.
He polled 574 votes in the 2006 General Election, finishing third behind the elected candidates Mr Braidwood and Brenda Cannell.
Meanwhile, after a meeting last night, the Liberal Vannin Party has announced Kate Beecroft will be its candidate.
Mrs Beecroft is married with a grown up family and is the director of a successful Manx trading company. She was a resident of Douglas East for 20 years.
Colin Cain, a Douglas councillor for the past 13 years, was the first to announce he will also seek election in Douglas East.
