Certain beaches to be marked
Four newly-designated bathing water beaches will be marked next month as government moves to adopt higher standards.
New signs will be put up at Port Erin, Port St Mary, Ramsey South and Douglas to make swimmers aware of their new status.
It's after a scheme by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture was approved by Tynwald this week.
Some members repeated concerns about the sewage issues in Laxey and Peel, to which Manx Utilities chairman Tim Baker gave this response:
Water in the areas will have to be tested weekly for bacteria to comply with the new rules with the results published online.
