Petition wants residents of new properties to be excluded
Politicians are being asked to approve measures aimed at tackling parking issues in a densely populated area of Douglas.
Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh is presenting a motion in Tynwald that follows a petition from resident Andrea Krüger, who is calling for changes to parking regulations in Parking Disc Zone H.
The proposals include introducing a statutory requirement to exclude occupants of new property developments in the zone from receiving residents' parking permits.
Additionally, Ms Krüger wants the current residents-only parking restrictions in the area extended to apply at all times.
Concerns have been raised that developments, including the conversion of the former nurses’ home on Westmoreland Road, could lead to increased parking pressures for existing residents.
The motion is being debated by Tynwald members.
