The Isle of Man will celebrate its national day today.
It's Tynwald Day (5 July).
POLITICS
Proceedings will get underway at 10am.
After a religious service in the Royal Chapel members of Tynwald will proceed to Tynwald Hill.
Acts of Tynwald will be read out in Manx and English, by the deemsters, in the presence of all Tynwald members, officials, guests, and the King’s representative - Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer.
As a Crown Dependency the British Armed Forces are represented each year with a guard of honour and a military band - this year the Royal Navy State Ceremonial Training Section and the band and fanfare team of the Band of the RAF Regiment.
Following the proceedings on Tynwald Hill the members of Tynwald will return to the Royal Chapel where a formal sitting of the court will take place.

PETITIONS
Following the promulgation members of the public will be invited to present their Petitions for Redress.
Sometimes known as the “Tynwald Hill petitions” these are petitions which can be presented directly by any member of the public but only at the midsummer sitting of Tynwald Court held at St John’s each year on Tynwald Day.
Petitioners hope that an MHK will take up their cause and push any potential legislation through the system on their behalf.
ENTERTAINMENT
The entertainment of the day will start at 9am with activities happening all day in Bunscoill Ghaelgagh, Cooil y Ree and on the back fairfield.
Proceedings will formally start in the morning with the schools parade through the village to the bottom of Tynwald Hill.
Running alongside the formal proceedings on the hill there will be a variety of stalls on display from people and communities across the Island.
The fairfield is open to the public from 9am to 5pm with local charities and youth groups, artisans selling handmade goods, games and rides for children and food vendors.
After the Tynwald ceremony family friendly events continue to be the focus for the afternoon with a wide range of attractions and entertainment.
This includes the return of the Global Village in the arboretum, the Viking encampment in Cooil-y-Ree, the Grand Manx Dance on the front green and performances by musicians in the chapel.
For those who prefer to get involved in an activity you can join in a craft workshop in the TynwaldFest tent from 10am until mid-afternoon.
A Manx traditional music session gets the TynwaldFest afternoon to a musical start followed by an amazing line up of performers this year.
The Enthusiasts, Mine’s a Shanty, The Reveillettes, SambaMann and The Awesome Party Band are all scheduled to play.
The traditional evening entertainment will be from Kipperceili Band where everyone can have a try of some Ceili dancing.
The Island's National Day will culminate at 10pm with the focus back once again on Tynwald Hill where Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums will play the Manx National Anthem.
