Clare Christian is the new president of Tynwald.
She got the vote in a secret ballot of members of the court this morning (Tuesday).
Mrs Christian had been proposed by Eddie Lowey MLC and seconded by Rushen MHK Quintin Gill.
Only two names were put forward, Mrs Christian and Speaker of the Keys Steve Rodan, who was proposed by Phil Gawne MHK.
There had been speculation Chief Minister Tony Brown would also be involved, but he didn't stand.
A total of 33 votes were cast, with twelve for Mr Rodan and 20 for Mrs Christian.
There was one spoilt paper.
Mrs Christian will be president of Tynwald until July 2016.
Her father, the late Sir Charles Kerruish, was the first president of Tynwald, holding the position from 1990 until his retirement in 2000.
