No 'new terms for new starters' for members
Tynwald looks set to reject calls for members to take a pay cut in line with new civil servants later this year.
The Standing Committee of Tynwald on Emoluments has considered whether new members should take a 10 per cent pay cut in line with new civil servants.
The committee says Tynwald Members haven’t been consulted about such a proposal, and says the “New Terms for New Starters” plan is a Public Services Commission initiative which should not apply to MHKs and MLCs.
It says members of the court should continue to get the same basic yearly salary of £39,546.50 no matter when they are elected.
The report will be laid before Tynwald when the court sits a week on Tuesday, but won't be debated at this stage.
