Measures 'essential' in safeguarding public
Sittings of Tynwald are due to continue despite the coronavirus pandemic.
In a joint statement the President of Tynwald, Steve Rodan MLC, and the Speaker of the House of Keys, Juan Watterson, have announced the decision has been made “for the good governance of the Island.”
Members and staff are currently undertaking remote working to minimise contact and will adhere to the social distancing requirements.
All parliamentary oversights will continue – helping to pass any emergency legislation government is bringing forward.
The Presiding Officers have noted how these measures are “essential” in safeguarding the general public, supporting families and individuals and ensuring the survival of business and commercial life.
