Tynwald's June sitting today

The Order Paper for today's sitting of Tynwald is one of the lightest in years - with just 14 items to consider.

However, June's sitting isn't going to be the SHORTEST.

There's a packed Question Paper - more than 30 questions have been tabled for spoken answer - promising some lively political debate.

The collapse of Euromanx features heavily - Michael MHK David Cannan wants to know the total financial help given by government to the airline from last September until its demise in May - and what 's being done to recover the £1.6 million pounds still owed.

Onchan's Peter Karran will ask why security wasn't obtained when the goverment extended credit to the airline.

A series of questions on TT - from the cost of running commuter trains to the price of Grandstand tickets - will offer members a chance to debate this success of this year's festival.

Prominent on the Order Paper itself - a request from Dogle minister John Shimmin for three quarters of a million pounds to start the Island's first kerbside recycling scheme.

And DTI minister David Cretney will seek approval to raise the adult minimum wage to £6 an hour.
