College considers move towards independence
University College Isle of Man could be closer to becoming an independent higher education establishment, after more students than ever attained top grades.
More than 8 out of 10 graduates achieved first or upper second class degree qualifications this year.
UCM currently runs ten higher level courses, some of which are unique to the Island.
The qualifications are awarded through the University of Chester.
But Higher Education Manager Gail Corrin says, since rebranding as UCM last year, the College is considering applying for full university status:
