Price says IoM, Jersey and Guernsey make important contribution
Britain's crown dependencies have found an unexpected ally in the form of UK financial journalist, and right-wing commentator, James Price.
Writing for online newsfeed City AM he points out that places like the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey make an important contribution to the United Kingdom.
James Price points to the findings of a paper from the right-wing think tank the Adam Smith Institute.
It suggests that by exercising its post-Brexit flexibility the UK could work with the crown dependencies and overseas territories to carve out industry specific regulations so that they function as testing grounds for innovations that can later be rolled out in the UK.
He goes on to say that helping these nimble jurisdictions into the CPTPP - a free trade agreement between Canada and 10 other countries in the Asia-Pacific region - would mean more global capital would flow firstly to the low tax, well-regulated crown dependencies and overseas territories, and subsequently into Britain.
