Manx consultation continues
The UK government’s ruled out changing the drink-drive limit in England and Wales – as the Isle of Man considers similar measures.
Today, reports suggested the government across would start a consultation into lowering the limit from 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood to 50, in line with Scotland.
Here, the Department of Infrastructure’s asking people to vote in an online poll as it considers reducing the Manx limit.
However, UK Road Safety Minister Andrew Jones has now ruled out any change – saying there’ll be no review.
Dr James Nicholls, the director of Research and Policy Development at Alcohol Research UK, says it’s a suggestion that always produces mixed responses:
