Post Office headquarters evacuated due to incident
Police have confirmed the incident at the Isle of Man Post Office sorting office in Douglas is due to a suspicious package.
Officers were called to the Spring Valley Industrial Estate at around 8.45am.
A specialist support unit from the UK is heading to the Island to safely dispose of the item.
The constabulary says appropriate procedures to protect the public were followed, and the safety of staff and the general public remains a top priority.
The post office has confirmed no residents in IM1-4 will receive mail today as a result of the incident, and its headquarters will remain closed until further notice.
The situation will be reviewed throughout the day, with updates from the postal service provided on social media.
