The Manx Government is to press Kaupthing Bank in Iceland to honour its guarantee to protect depositors in its Isle of Man subsidiary.
It's been confirmed that a guarantee was made by the 'parent' company for it's affiliated business in the Island.
On Manx Radio's Talking Heads today, Chief Minister Tony Brown (pictured) said a request would be made to the United Kingdom government to take up the case. He said:
"The UK government have responsibility for us in international affairs and we work very closely with them on that and we have certainly been talking to the United Kingdom government, their delegation going to Iceland, and asking them to put our case very strongly in relation to the local bank.
"We have got the basis of this guarantee and we have made that clear again to the UK and hopefully they will be able to do that for us."
