Lowest level since 2008
Unemployment has hit an eight-year low, according to the latest government statistics.
The Cabinet Office says 636 persons were unemployed at the end of June, down 27 on May’s figure.
It means fewer people are out of work now than at any time since October 2008, and the Island’s unemployment rate is just 1.4 per cent.
420 men and 216 women were looking for work in June – while 714 jobs were notified to the Job Centre over the course of the month.
