Meetings ahead of membership ballot
A senior union official from Prospect in the UK is to address Island members about far-reaching changes to their pensions - as reform efforts reach a critical point.
Prospect's Deputy General Secretary Dai Hudd will discuss concerns with public sector workers at a series of public meetings across the Island this week (18 and 19 Jan).
Proposals to change the Government Unified Scheme would see around 5000 staff pay more into their pensions for fewer benefits.
Union members in the Island will be balloted on the reforms from 23 January, with the result due mid-February, ahead of a Tynwald vote.
Mr Hudd will explain what the changes mean for members, and while in the Island, will also meet the Chief Minister Howard Quayle.
