The general secretary of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers says he’s worried the freight war between the Steam Packet and Mezeron could mean job losses.
Bob Crow has been supporting demonstrations by Steam Packet staff demanding a level playing field for workers and crews in both companies.
He claims Mezeron’s crews are working for just a fraction of the cost of Steam Packet crews, seriously disadvantaging the company.
And he’s warning if the situation worsens, it could lead to job losses.
