Overwhelming support from members
Members of Unite the Union have voted overwhelmingly in favour of proposed changes to the Government Unified Pension scheme.
The ballot asked members if they wished to support proposed changes to the scheme aimed at making itboth sustainable and fair.
It sees transitional increases from 2018 to 2020 of 2.5% in contributions, with a 6% reduction in future benefits.
The ballot closed at midday yesterday and the result was 82.4% in favour with 17.6% opposed.
The results of a ballot of Prospect Union members is yet to be announced.
