Gary Roberts giving evidence to committee
The Chief Constable says he's giving "unprecedented" comments at today's hearing of the Tynwald committee investigating historical child abuse at Knottfield Children's Care Home.
Gary Roberts is giving evidence in the Legislative Council Chamber, two weeks after the committee heard from Christine Urquhart and John Guest, two of many victims of systematic abuse during their childhoods spent in care at the facility on Woodbourne Road in Douglas.
This morning Mr Roberts apologised for the shortcomings of the police investigation and the delay in getting to where we are today.
On Monday, the committee will hear from the Attorney General, and Mr Andrew Johnston, a former trustee at the Children's Centre.
